MISSION: Desert Hills Christian Homeschoolers (DHCH) serves to support and provide for those parents who have chosen to make the sacrifice and commitment to teach their own children privately at home, independent of any publicly-funded school program, thereby retaining complete control of their children's education.
PHILOSOPHY: The philosophy of the DHCH board of directors is that parents have a God-given responsibility and a constitutional right to educate their children both spiritually and academically.
GOALS: We seek to bring glory to God by teaching our children according to the Biblical mandate of Deut. 6:6-7. We believe that telling our children about Jesus Christ and how they can be saved is of utmost importance. We wish to make disciples of our children, showing them how a Christian ought to live. We also desire to educate them about God's wonderful creation and His providential role in the history of the world.
VISION: Our vision is to encourage, edify and equip homeschooling parents who seek God's Will and follow God's Word for the education of their children, as they strive for excellence in all areas with God's grace. We are committed to nurture the spiritual, social, and academic growth of our children so that they may become responsible adults who love and serve God.
Desert Hills Christian Homeschoolers (DHCH) is dedicated to supporting parent and child alike within a joyful atmosphere that brings honor and glory to God. We are a close-knit group in which children can grow up together, parents can find fellowship, and families can grow in Christ as we endeavor to come alongside one another in the wonderful adventure of homeschooling.
DHCH consists of both beginning and experienced homeschool families with children of all ages from babies to teens. Whether you are new to homeschooling or just moved to the area, feel free to join DHCH at any time. We also welcome prospective homeschoolers...
The DHCH leadership consists of husband and wife teams, and many fathers are actively involved in the group. We encourage moms and/or dads to stay home with their children, and to look into home education as early as possible. We also highly recommend continuing to homeschool through high school. It's a real blessing to teach your teen during those crucial years!
DHCH promotes parent-directed, family-funded, relationship-based home education based on a biblical perspective and free from government control. DHCH members use many different types of curriculum of their own choosing, with homeschooling methods ranging from relaxed to traditional. This includes independent online homeschool programs - but NOT the use of public school programs at home.
DHCH traditionally holds two regularly scheduled group meetings each year, in the Fall and Spring. Additional group activities provide opportunities for education, friendship, and fun. Field trips, hikes, parent-led outings and other activities take place year-round. Special events have included River Day, Field Day, Recognition Night, 20th Anniversary Celebration, Homeschool Information Night, Answers in Genesis Seminar, and Frugal Homeschooling Workshop.
